Broad Minded
$3,000 per day with Capt. Mike Varney
$4,000 per day with Capt. Nick Stanczyk
Both Capt. Nick Stanczyk and Capt. Mike Varney run the "Broad Minded", though Nick only runs a limited amount of trips.
The new “Broad Minded” is a 2021 42’ Freeman Boatworks. It’s one of the best riding and most comfortable center consoles around. It has double row seating plus rear facing seats so you always have a place to sit. It’s powered with quad 300 Yamaha Outboards and runs up to 60 mph! It’s equipped with top of the line Simrad Electronics and has an amazing JL audio sound system. We can take up to 6 people on it and have plenty of cooler space for your food and drinks. There isn’t a bathroom on it but we do have a 5 gallon bucket.
Captain Nick Stanczyk
Capt. Nick Stanczyk grew up fishing at Bud n' Mary's Marina in Islamorada, FL. His family has owned and operated the marina since 1978. After college Nick pursued his passion and started fishing to make a living. His obsession with swordfish started in 2006 after his first successful trip and he spent countless hours and years refining and developing daytime swordfishing techniques while fishing with his family. Capt. Nick still runs the Broad Minded for some day to day charters, but focuses more on his "Swordfish Camps", the StanzFam YouTube Channel, the Stanz Brand, and spending some time at home with his family and young kids. After a couple years of fishing together with Capt. Mike Varney it was time to give Mike the keys to the Freeman and let him start taking the majority of our charter clients out.
Capt. Mike Varney
Capt. Mike grew up fishing with his family in South Florida. He moved to the Keys as a young kid and spent all of his free time on the water. After high school he worked on private boats, commercial boats, and then ran his own charter boat for five years. Mike has done a little bit of everything and he joined Capt. Nick Stanczyk as a deckhand in 2021 and started running the "Broad Minded" when Nick wasn't. Swordfishing is Mike's favorite type of fishing but he will do it all from deep dropping, to live baiting, and wreck fishing. Mike was also the Top Tag and Release Mate for The Billfish Foundation with Capt. Nick in 2021 and 2022.

Catch 22
$3,000 Per Day
The Catch 22 is a 54′ Blackwell run by Capt Scott Stanczyk. Scott is credited with being the first captain to catch a targeted daytime deep drop swordfish in the United States dating back to January 2003! The boat has a large cockpit with a fighting chair, a bridge, and a tuna tower. The cabin has AC with two large bench seats, a galley, and a bathroom. The Catch 22 can accommodate up to 6 passengers.

Bud n’ Mary’s Marina
